Meet Tracey Hughes Royal
A native of Nashville, TN, Tracey is a marketing strategist with 30 combined years of brand development, public relations, media management, and digital media experience at the Colgate Palmolive Company, New York Times Company and several Chicago and New York-based public relations agencies. She also consults as a CEO Mentor, helping million-dollar business owners scale their companies.
Tracey’s been featured on the Today show, MSNBC’s “Your Business” show, Inc.com, and nbcnews.com. She is a two-time (2020, 2019) recipient of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. South Eastern Region’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award (Medium Chapter) and a 2020 Nashville Athena nominee. She was honored with the 2005 Spelman College Alumnae Achievement award and installed in the institution’s Archives for Excellence in Business.
Her national and Nashville memberships include the National Association of Black Journalists, the African American Historical & Genealogical Society, The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, National Association of Parliamentarians, and National Alumnae Association of Spelman College. She sits on the boards for the Nashville Public Radio, National Black MBA Association Nashville Chapter, and Herzing University’s Inclusion and Community Impact Advisory Committee,
Tracey is a charter member of the Charms, Inc. Nashville Chapter and an active 38-year member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She’s a past two-time chapter parliamentarian and public relations committee chair. She currently serves as chapter historian, executive committee member, committee chair and co-chair.
Tracey graduated with honors from Spelman College and Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism with a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications. She also completed an executive certification program at Syracuse University’s School of Sales and Marketing Management.
She has lectured at Vanderbilt University, Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Spelman College, Morehouse College, and Medgar Evers College. In addition to her business experience, she was ordained as a deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Brooklyn, NY.
Majornette Jefferson
Communications + Media Manager
Majornette oversees marketing communications and social media strategy, engagement and management, media relations and monitoring, and content development for TRC clients.
After nearly a decade as a higher education professional with Meharry Medical College and Vanderbilt University, she’s mastered creating and executing programming across all areas of the academic campus, from improving educational services for students, prospective students, and employers and formal event coordination for institutions; to developing, cultivating, and maintaining relationships with internal and external entities, and creating and promoting organization’s brands. She is experienced in HBCU administration, Board of Trustees relations, and student affairs. She is skilled in project management, budgeting, communication, and leadership.
Majornette served on the 2017 committee for the 2017 Annual Women of Color Breakfast with the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women, an event she co-chaired in 2018. As the co-host of a local podcast, she has been a featured guest on the “Girls Like Us” Podcast and “The Scenario” radio show. She has organized numerous local panel discussions and events and a week-long celebration of Black geek culture with Nashville’s inaugural Black Geek Week in 2018. She is a longtime volunteer with TNAchieves/TN Promise.
The Memphis native received her bachelor’s degree from Tennessee State University. She is a member of the Tennessee State University National Alumni Association, Memphis Shelby County Chapter, where she serves as the chapter’s social media lead. She spends her free time biking, doing yoga, spending time with her family, and finding the perfect sunset.
Tierra Robinson
Social Media Manager
Tierra Robinson provides social media management and graphic design services for Tracey Royal Communications. She is a skilled graphic designer, website designer, photographer, and videographer. She started her professional as a television reporter in Meridian, MS, at Fox30 News before making her transition into Higher Education. In 2016, she pioneered the Sports Information/ Communications Specialist position at East Central Community College (ECCC) in Decatur, MS, where she laid the foundation for ECCC’s athletic brand including website concept creation, marketing materials, social media creation, and photography/videography efforts for 10 intercollegiate sports.
Tierra later moved to Nashville and joined the University Relations team at Fisk University. As the Communications & Digital Content Coordinator, she created written and visual communications, coordinated press coverage for university events, updated the school’s website and managed the Fisk’s branding and rebranding efforts.
She graduated The University of West Alabama (UWA) with a B.S. in Integrated Marketing Communications. She was crowned the first African American Miss University of West Alabama (2012-13), as a preliminary to compete in the Miss Alabama pageant. She was named 2015 UWA Broadcast Journalist of the Year. She is a member of the praise and worship team for Spirit and Truth Believers Fellowship and a background vocalist for local gospel artists. She is a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority.
Jordyn Walston
Social Media Assistant
Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Jordyn is a 2019 graduate of Spelman College. Jordyn began her career as an Administrative Entertainment Intern at Wolfcreek Amphitheater, where she learned the fundamentals of developing digital, social, and content strategy to attract audiences, potential talent and vendors. She later became the Fall Mass Media Marketing Intern at Allied Integrated Marketing where she created promotional and publicity stunts for Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Studios including Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Deadpool, Ferdinand and A Bad Moms Christmas.
Rita K Davis
Media Consultant
Hailing from the Hoosier state of Indiana and cultivated at Tennessee State University, Rita K. Davis brings 20 years of combined experience in the corporate and creative spaces. Rita has worked with top brands in non-profit organizations like the American Heart Association, The Ludacris Foundation (Actor/ Artist -Ludacris “Chris” Bridges) The Compound Foundation (Grammy Award winning producer and artist NeYo) She has excelled in the staffing industry within the verticals of finance, manufacturing and logistics giving her a keen eye for brand visibility and customer centricity.
Creatively Rita brings experience in front of and behind the lens. Getting her start as a volunteer for the BET Awards in 2006, Rita was introduced to the world of public relations and became the Atlanta contact and PR Assistant for BDC World Entertainment with industry veteran Barry Florence. Behind the lens, she has worked as a co-creator, producer and web content editor for former editor of Essence magazine, Angela Burt-Murray and Cocoa Media Group. With her unique experience in the corporate and entertainment industry, in front and behind the lens as well as bringing influencer knowledge personally, Rita has experienced a well-rounded view of what’s expected in visibility, public relations and marketing.
